Father's Day

While life on the farm is mostly dedicated to mamas, I mean, thats just a numbers game, LOL, the baby daddy types we keep around here are pretty important too!

From our low birth weight bulls to our boyfrand boars to the stupid ass roosters (sorry for the language, but that is what we call them LOL), the carefully selected males around here make an extremely small, but critical contribution to health and well being of our animals.

And so that answers a question I had recently. No, we don't AI (artificially inseminate) our animals. All of our breeding is done the old fashioned way, one boy, one girl, two hearts beating wildly... While one boar hog can handle all of the sow girlfriends, we have quite the rotation of bulls to service all of our cows and heifers. We take pride in caring for and managing our bulls. We even have the proverbial "bull pen" where they stay to rest up from their months of hard, diligent "work".  They actually do look quite haggard by the end, LOL.

As part of our bigger farm offerings, later this year, we will have "replacement" heifers available for sale. These will be amazing heifers from our herd that are bred with one of our low birth weight bulls. This will be an awesome addition for any cattle operations to expand herd genetics, but certainly a great investment for smaller, hobby cattle people. As the heifers will be already bred, there will be no worry about all that goes into the year round investment and maintenance of the baby daddies.

Here is a link to a behind the scenes video clip of working the heifers last month. You can definitely tell they have been out to pasture all winter! But, they have since been moved to their own heifer pasture and have started paddock training, so they will be ready for new families this winter. Hit me up if you are interested or know someone who might be. We have a limited number available (you know Jarred wants to keep all his babies lol), and we will have a sign up, wait list available soon.

And speaking of Jarred, I definitely want to take a minute to acknowledge all he does around this farm and in our family and in our community. He is a very involved Daddy to our four daughters, and he is also an extremely dedicated Jiu Jitsu coach to many young kiddos in our community. He absolutely loves coaching, and I am pretty sure the kids love him too! I have attached a picture, because I am sure it's hard to imagine the cowboy from market in his gi!

Thank you all for your continued support of our farm!

See you at market!
